Cots 4 Tots – A Charity That Helps Families With Neonatal Intensive Care
Cots for Tots provides a place to stay close to the hospital for families with babies at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is managed by the Great Appeal, the dedicated charity that helps Bristol Children’s Hospital. Abbey Silvester ran the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run in support.
When your child is ready for bed, you should move them to the bed. This can prevent resentment towards their new sibling. It can also make them sleep better.
The Cots 4 Tots story
The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a non-profit foundation that helps fund the Marine Corps’ annual toy drive. It provides administrative, financial logistical, and promotional assistance to local Toys for Tots coordinators, as well as a variety of services that the Marine Corps is unable to provide. It also distributes informational and educational materials to the public, arranges for national corporations to include information about Toys for Tots into their paid advertisements, and also runs an annual program of public education and publicity.
The Cots 4 Tots story began in 2010 with a fundraising appeal for Bristol’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located at St Michael’s Hospital. The charity has raised tens of thousands of pounds since its inception, helping families with sick and premature babies across the West of England and South Wales. Its mission includes providing families with accommodation houses as well as the latest equipment for the NICU.
Cots for Tots House serves as an “home away from home” for families staying in the hospital. It is located next to the NICU and allows parents to be close to their infants. The charity has helped over 2100 families stay at the house since 2012.
Families who stay at Cots For Tots House are reassured they are not alone. They can share their experiences with other parents who are experiencing the same issue. Additionally they have access to a wide range of facilities to make their stay as comfortable as they can.
The charity also supports a musician who visits the NICU to help reduce stress and pain for both parents and babies. It has been demonstrated that this improves the quality of life for patients and their family members. Music therapy also helps reduce the amount of medication needed to treat these children, saving money and time for the hospitals. The therapist employs specially-designed resonant devices that are tuned to certain frequencies and play soothing tunes for babies. Additionally the resonant instruments produce vibrations that can relax the mothers and fathers.

It has helped thousands of families during the past decade.
Abbey Silvester’s children Alfie and Mollie were in St Michael’s Hospital’s neonatal intensive unit. She claims Cots for Tots was “an absolute Godsend” and her family and she wouldn’t have been able to get through the day without it. “You make friends here, you build a community and love amongst each other,” said she. “Without it, who knows what our lives would be like?”
It is important to make the right decision for your baby when selecting a cot. There are a myriad of sizes and styles to choose from, so it’s important to think about what you will require in the long run. A cot must be sturdy and have good railings. It must also be easy to clean and have a removable mattress. Some cots come with a height-adjustable base, which is ideal for small children.
Moving can be stressful for everyone, but for new parents it’s more stressful. They must cope with a baby and all the additional issues that it brings. But, by making a few key preparations and hiring a transport company early to ensure that your move goes smoothly.
